First course: The American Jobs Act. Despite all the moaning and gnashing of teeth, the AJA was real plan, a progressive plan that will have a real effect and shows that Obama is serious about creating the jobs and getting the economy moving.
Second Course: Obama's debt reduction plan. Again, a progressive plan that came with a thrown gauntlet in the form a veto threat if there are no new revenues. And get this: No SS or M/M cuts.
And with these two plans, Obama has set the table and framed the conversation going into the election. And he's hitting the road and throwing punches and being aggressive.
These two plans are combination punches to the gut of the GOP. Their muteness speaks volumes. They are off balance and don't know how to react. Perhaps they were caught a bit off guard?
By taking the fight to the GOP over the debt and jobs with these ambitious plans, Obama has taken their main lines of attack away from them. How can they attack Obama about the deficit when he's released such a comprehensive plan? How can they attack him over jobs as they obstruct the AJA? Oh, they will try, but their attacks will be impotent.
They were planning to attack Obama over jobs and the deficit going into '12.
